New anti-theft measures prevent Vandalia gun store break-in
Officers said they were dispatched on an alarm activation from the gun store around 2:10 a.m. Vandalia Police Sgt. Gary Jackson said officers were on the scene within 30 seconds and found a broken window but no suspect
.
Jackson said a would-be thief broke a window of the gun shop and attempted to get inside but was held back by bars that covered the window. Police said the business recently installed the bars after several local gun shops were broken into.
Investigators said they do not have any suspects or suspect vehicles and are currently observing surveillance footage from the business.
Vandalia police also said they have increased patrols around the gun shop during the overnight hours.
